Mark Montellana

Associate

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Mark attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received a B.A. in English. As a post-grad, he worked as a community resource coordinator for a charitable non-profit organization targeting low-income and underrepresented communities in Los Angeles. He then attended Southwestern Law School and was admitted to the State Bar of California in December 2021.

Background

Mark began his legal career in the field of medical/dental malpractice where he handled all stages of litigation. Tasked with navigating complex medical/dental issues ranging from vascular neck surgery to infections resulting from pulpotomies, Mark has experience analyzing medical records, conferring with and deposing expert witnesses, discovery and motion practice, and client-facing interaction. Prior to that, Mark clerked in both the Los Angeles Office of the Public Defender and the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, where he gained invaluable courtroom experience in the realm of criminal law. During law school, Mark was selected to Southwestern Law School’s prestigious Trial Advocacy Honors Program (TAHP) as a testament to his oral advocacy skills. Post-graduation, the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) selected Mark for its highly-competitive ABOTA Fellowship Program. In his spare time, Mark enjoys playing basketball, snowboarding, and trying every single restaurant he comes across.

Practice areas

Always eager to try new things, Mark handles a wide variety of cases in civil, probate, and criminal law. In the civil arena, Mark serves both individual plaintiffs as well as corporate and government defendants in matters involving personal injury, car accidents, slip and falls, professional negligence, and fraud. In the probate arena, Mark handles matters involving undue influence, executor and administrator challenges, and Finally, in the criminal arena, Mark works closely under Bill Seki in cases involving law enforcement and white collar crime.
